Athletics Update (6/25/20)

Parents & Guardians,

As part of our preparation for the start of the 2020-2021 school year the administration is monitoring guidelines and directives from the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) and the Governor regarding extra-curricular activities. We resumed limited activities on June 1. Our coaches and student-athletes have diligently followed the guidelines outlined by the AAA and the Governor. These include screening (players and staff), social distancing, sport specific restrictions and disinfecting facilities between groups.

We appreciate the understanding, flexibility, and transparent communication exhibited by our parents and student-athletes who have participated in these workouts. This is just another example of what makes our school community special! We expect new guidelines for July to be released soon; we will communicate any changes to our protocols.

As an organization, we understand everyone’s situation is unique. We respect the right of each individual family to make a personal decision regarding their child’s participation in extra-curricular activities. There will not be repercussions for student-athletes who decide not to participate in workouts. If your family decides not to participate under the current guidelines, we ask that you communicate this to your individual coach and the Athletic Director (Hayden Cruce). This will allow us to better plan our groups and team activities.

There are two items that need immediate attention for fall athletics. More information regarding each item can be found below. Please complete these items as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Hayden Cruce
Athletic Director

Physicals

Due to the current environment we will not be able to offer free physicals on our campus this year. All students participating in extra-curricular activities will be required to obtain a physical from their PCP or other healthcare provider. The physical form, health history, HIPPA Release, and AAA Sports Medicine acknowledgement can be accessed on the website here: Athletic Forms and Downloads.

Physicals are current for 15 months. All students must have a current physical on file before participating in team activities or practice. Physicals may be uploaded to the DragonFly app or a physical copy may be returned to our athletic trainer, Maddie Awtrey. If you have additional questions regarding physicals please contact Ms. Awtrey at mawtrey@cacmustangs.org.

DragonFly

The Arkansas Activities Association has required all schools and players to use DragonFly to monitor sports medicine and eligibility. Parents must create an account for their family and then request access for each individual student. This needs to be done as soon as possible. Instructions on how to create an account can be found here: DragonFly Account Information.

We recognize this system is new and there will be a learning curve for schools and parents. The platform will provide easy access to athlete information, like physicals.
