Q&A With Erin Brogdon
Spotlight on CAC’s newest board member.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in Mountain View, Arkansas, and later attended Harding University where I obtained a degree in accounting. I then attended UALR Bowen School of Law and have been practicing law since 2006. I am a partner at Wright, Lindsey & Jennings in Little Rock. My husband Jay is an investment banker with Stephens, and we have two sons: Hoover, 5, and Hutson, 3. We are members at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.
What was your first exposure to CAC?
The first experience was competing against CAC in the Ortho Arkansas Basketball tournament when I was in 10th grade. I also met CAC coaches and players at Harding’s basketball camps. As an adult, my first exposure to CAC was attending football and basketball games with Anthony and Paula Brady. If you can’t tell, I’m a big sports fan.
As a parent, what was it about CAC that made you want to send your children here?
The “community” of CAC. Jay and I are so pleased to experience the community of support within the CAC family. It resembles the experiences we had growing up in small towns.
What made you want to serve on the school’s board of directors?
My mom and grandparents, as well as Jay’s parents, all worked as teachers, coaches and school administrators. We were blessed to grow up in strong public school systems, and education has always been a passion of mine. Although I knew my profession would not take me to the classroom, it’s obvious how God has taken this passion and shown me how I can serve a school with the talents and skills He blessed me with.
We’ve heard you’ve teamed up with retired CAC teacher Paula Brady to start a group called Moms in Prayer. Tell us a little bit about that.
The power of prayer has become more apparent to me in the last year than ever before in my life. Our church has hosted a Moms in Prayer group for several years, and after learning more about it, CAC seemed like the perfect place to start a group. Mrs. Brady and I are eager to see how God will be glorified through praying God’s will and promises on the children, faculty, and resources of CAC. We will hold Moms in Prayer meetings on the first and third Friday of each month at 8 a.m. on the NLR campus. Everyone is welcome to join us on Oct. 2 for coffee and donuts to learn more.
When you’re not in the office, how do you spend your time?
Outside with my boys and Jay, swimming, playing baseball, riding bikes, grilling or seeking a new adventure. We also love entertaining friends at our house, traveling, and attending sporting events. When I have time alone, I love to read. I’m also involved with Vine & Village, which is a ministry of Mosaic Church.
What have you enjoyed most about being part of the CAC family?
Just that — being part of a family where we bind faith and education together into a tightly knit community.
What do you look forward to most about your new role on the board?
Learning about CAC’s rich history, discovering innovative approaches to education, serving the family we love, experiencing fresh ways to love our neighbors, and seeking God’s will for CAC.
