Friday Thoughts: I’ll Do Whatever

One of the best days of the school year is next Friday — ACCESS Gators/Day of Service. As we’ve organized our service groups, I’ve had the following conversation several times:

Me:  Hello, [insert teacher name here]. Our day of service is next Friday, April 24, and we’d like for you to lead one of our service projects. Would you be interested in leading the [insert service project name] group?

Teacher: That’d be great. I’ll do whatever.

Since spring break, that same attitude and response has been seen over and over and over:

  • Leading Spring Break Trips
  • Helping cover classes for teachers on trips
  • Standardized Testing
  • JR/SR Banquet
  • Driving buses for Field Trips
  • An Evening at CAC
  • River City Track Meet
  • ACCESS Gators/Day of Service

These final two months of school always feel like a sprint to the finish with a trip/game/ceremony/event/program every night of the week, and without a “I’ll do whatever” faculty, I don’t know what we’d do!

Over the next few weeks, I’m sure several more needs will pop up, but I’m also sure we’ll help out as needed— because that’s what we do.
