| Building on a Vision
In September of 1971, Central Arkansas Christian Schools began its first year of classes with 156 students. The school used the facilities of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ in Sherwood. Later a high school program was added at Jacksonville, and additional elementary programs were started at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in west Little Rock, and the Geyer Springs Church of Christ on University Avenue.
In August of 1978, grades 7-12 were moved to a newly-constructed facility. Today the secondary campus comprises 80 acres of scenic woodlands near the Arkansas River. Starting in grade 7, students are brought to this campus, which also houses the school's central administrative offices. Located near the juncture of Interstate 430 and Maumelle Boulevard in North Little Rock, this campus is equipped with fine arts, athletics, science and technology facilities.
In the fall of 2003 the Geyer Springs/University campus merged with the elementary at Pleasant Valley in west Little Rock. The school's Sylvan Hills elementary campus is located in Sherwood. These two campuses offer a fun, nurturing learning environment for students in grades Pre-K3 through 6.
Today, CAC's diverse student body is composed of more than 1,100 pupils who range in age from preschool 3-year-olds to high school seniors.
True to its Purpose
More than 30 years ago, a few people had a hope for a school that would have values and Christian service as its focus, and Central Arkansas Christian Schools was born. Today, CAC remains a leader in private education.
CAC has always recognized its role as a Christian educational institution with a distinctive and unique mission: Assisting parents in leading their children to love God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind.
The school's founders also believed that CAC must be committed to the highest standards of excellence. CAC's faculty and administrators are experienced educators who are serious about creating a fun, safe and nurturing learning environment.
CAC graduates are successful in college, their communities and beyond. The 102-member class of 2008 includes a National Merit finalists and three Arkansas Governors Distinguished Scholars. Members of the class were a part of three state champion athletic teams, and 52 graduates received college academic and civic scholarships.
Faculty and students are encouraged to seek God's will for their lives through open and honest study of the Bible. CAC welcomes all students who meet its academic and behavioral standards, and who have a desire to be a part of a Christian school community. |
