CAC Teachers Prepare for New School Year, Welcome New Faces

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

Before the doors opened on Wednesday, August 9, the CAC faculty and staff were hard at work preparing for the new school year. Psalm 121:1-2, the school-wide theme verse chosen by Student Council, served as the guiding focus for teachers and administration as they prayed, created lesson plans and encouraged one another.

At this year’s inservice, the Board of Directors surprised teachers with an ice cream truck visit, the Pleasant Valley Elementary and North Little Rock Elementary campus staffs attended retreats, and the secondary campus participated in team-building activities.

A new school year brings new faces to CAC, including multiple new faculty and staff members. This month, six new teachers and one staff member joined the CAC family and brought new skills and perspectives with them.

On Mustang Mountain, Patrick Smith is teaching seventh grade Arkansas History, Geography and Bible, and helping coach football and taking on the head baseball coaching role. Smith is a former CAC teacher and coach who spent the last five years teaching and coaching in his hometown of Batesville.

Previously at Harding Academy in Searcy, Angela Kyle is teaching middle school mathematics and working with the Lady Mustang volleyball teams.

Directing CAC’s chorus and music program is Travis Kaye. Kaye is joining the CAC faculty from Montgomery, Alabama, where he taught music at Alabama Christian Academy.

At the North Little Rock Elementary campus, CAC graduate Andrea Grice is teaching the second grade. She joins us from the North Little Rock School District. Lynn Brown, a familiar face, has taken on the role of Administrative Assistant at NLR Elementary, as well as the head volleyball and softball coach.

At Pleasant Valley Elementary, Tracy Sheehy is teaching third grade. Sheehy and her family recently moved back to Little Rock from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also new on the PV campus is Jamie Custer. Custer comes to CAC from Don Roberts Elementary and is teaching 4th and 5th grade.
