Mustang Monitor – September 5th
Short week greetings,
We hope you have enjoyed a long weekend and look forward to the resulting short week! It is truly a great combination.
We start on a somber note. Tyler Binford, a CAC 2011 alumnus unexpectedly passed away Friday night, September 2. Tyler was a grand part of CAC life for his entire school career, particularly as he was a multi-year state wrestling champion as an individual and team leader. His mom, Ellen Wingfield Binford was also a CAC grad while his grandmother, Dean Wingfield was the longtime principal at the NLR elementary, formerly Sylvan Hills CAC. Uncles Jeff and Barry Wingfield are also CAC grads. Our thoughts and prayers will continue with the family and Tyler’s many friends and classmates. Services to honor Tyler will be at the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ on Thursday, September 8. Visitation will be at 9:00am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Please remember the Binfords and Wingfields before our Father.
A couple of events of note outside the athletic realm will occur this week:
Tuesday and Wednesday – Auditions for the Drama Department’s Talent Show. Auditions will be in the Cone Auditorium beginning at 3:30 both day. Students must sign up for an audition time; information is on the Drama bulletin board. The Talent Show is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm. Admission charge is $5.00
Wednesday, CAC will provide support for the Lagosette School in Haiti with a Shoe Day. Students are permitted to dress in Purple and Gold Spirit Day wear. The usual charge is $2.00 but as this is a great opportunity to support our sister school in Haiti, larger donations will be most willingly accepted and appreciated by those who will benefit. As shoes can be purchased at lower prices and with the complications of shipping, the funds will be forwarded to the school for their use to bless the students. Danny Sullivan, among others, is a frequent visitor to the school. He and all of us thank you for your cooperation and generosity!
As Robinson High School is undergoing some construction projects, there will be some additional information about Friday’s game night in a future Mustang Monitor. Stay tuned.
Thank you for your support, interest and prayers for CAC and our work. You are most highly appreciated and welcome to contact us if we may be of service.
