Mustang Monitor, May 8th

Wrapping it up Greetings,

Activities are rapidly drawing to a close with critical state tournament games remaining.  The attached Weekly Schedule covers games times however, opponents in soccer have yet to be determined.  The Lady Mustangs will finish 1st in our conference while the Mustangs will place 2nd.  Both teams have completed their schedules.  We will alert you to state opponents as soon as they are known.

Congratulations to the Mustang Baseball squad, district and regional champions!  The region champ accomplishment was accompanied by a first round bye in the state tournament.  And, in case you missed it,  the Mustang baseball squad pulled off aTRIPLE PLAY in Saturday’s game.  With runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs, Ryan Dillard fielded a line drive, stepped on 2nd forcing the returning runner then threw to Austin Holley to force the runner returning to 1st.  Score that 6U6U-3!  Also, in case you are wondering, only 704 triple plays have occurred in Major League Baseball since 1876!  That’s 140 years!!  It was exciting.

Some special events occurring in the next few days we will call to your attention:

Monday Chapel (9:35) – Lights Up! will make their final performance, during chapel.  With 8 of 10 seniors, significant personnel changes will occur next year.  You are invited to attend.

Tuesday Chapel (9:35) – End of the Year Athletic Awards will be presented during chapel.  Again, you are invited to attend to honor several great student athletes.

Tuesday Evening (5:30/6:00) – Annual Sports Physicals at OrthoArkansas.  The packet of REQUIRED paperwork is here, OrthoArkansas CAC Forms.  Please note parent signatures are MANDATORY to get a physical.

Wednesday Chapel (11:00) – Senior Chapel.  This outstanding event celebrates the Senior Class in their final chapel.  Again, you are invited to attend.

A Shout Out to close.  We received notification that Christyn Williams’ game jersey has been requested to hang in the Ring of Honor at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, TN, “in recognition of her outstanding play for the 2015-2016 season.”  What a tribute and honor for a Lady Mustang student athlete, her teammates and coaches.  Congratulation Christyn; we are proud of you!

That will get us for a couple of days until more details are known about soccer opponents.   Until then, have a great start to the week and we hope to see you at some of these great events; near or far.  Do holler if we may be of assistance.
