Mustang Monitor – October 12th
Homecoming Week Greetings,
You only thought it could get worse and more hectic. Join us this week and see just how busy things can get. But it is good times and great to see the students get all fired up and festive for the events. It will also be good to get to Friday night for some special events.
Friday’s festivities will begin with the Pep Rally at 2:40. The Homecoming Court will be introduced, complete with football player escorts. ALL of the cheer squads will entertain with a special cheer at the Pep Rally and that evening’s game. Court Presentation will be at 6:30 and include the announcement of the 2015 Homecoming Queen. Somewhere in here we hope a football game breaks out. At halftime, several “old timers” will be honored. We will feature The First Five Years of Mustang Football with players and cheerleaders from the 1976 – 1980 era teams introduced. 1976 marked the initial year of CAC Mustang Football and membership in the Arkansas Activities Association. Among those present will be Jerry Copeland, CAC’s first football coach and parent of two CAC grads. Stay around at halftime for this great event and see some “really old people” including yours truly.
A shout out to the Student Council and their sponsor, Melissa Leverett, for planning and providing for great spirit this week. It is a project which has been several weeks in the planning and will be greatly enjoyed. They also provided the staff with a great BBQ meal at lunch on Friday. It served to get us properly nourished for this week’s fun!
Another shout out to the Mustang Tennis Squad. In conference action this past week, the girls were co-champs led by conference doubles champs, Taylor Elder and Jordan Rumbach. The guys team were also champs, again led by championship doubles play by Alex Hart and Ryan Dillard. Harrison Hodges and Jake Speck finished in third place. All those mentioned will move on to the 4A State Tournament October 19 in Jonesboro. A big CONGRATS and we are proud of you. More details as they are available.
Also, a Best Wishes to Allie Weiner as she competes in the Overall Golf Tournament on Thursday at Pleasant Valley Country Club. This event features the top 3 finishers from each of the seven classifications. Drive for show; putt for dough!!!!
Thursday will mark Senior Night for the volleyball team. Senior introductions will be following the first game of the evening which will begin at 4:30. You are invited to come out and honor these fine student athletes.
The River City Conference Volleyball Tournament will be on Saturday. It will involve both 8th and 9th grade teams and will be held at Robinson; 8th grade in the Middle School gym, 9th grade at the High School gym. A later Monitor edition will feature game times once the bracket has been determined.
And an early warning for an event next week. On Wednesday, October 21, we will have sizing and take orders for CAC Letter Jackets. Any student in grades 9-12 who has lettered in a varsity sport or activity is eligible to order. The package of jacket, letter, sport insert, sleeve number and embroidered name is $145. A $50 deposit is required for ordering.
That’s it for the evening; time for bed to get ready for this busy week. We hope to see you at some events of which there are plenty to choose from. Best wishes to you and give us a shout if we can be of assistance.
