Mustang Monitor – February 24

Let’s Try It Again Greetings,

We have a bit more information for this edition, including something of a schedule so we’ll give it a good shot.

By the way, did you hear Mustang Wrestling won state????  Indeed, it is true.  It was very much a back and forth battle all day with CAC ending the day on top by only 4 points…, which is sufficient.  Outstanding job to the guys and coaches.  Coming away with state championships in their weight classes were:  Jon Andrews at 182#, Braden Zini at 195# and Jason Kidder at 285#.  Championship number 3 for Zini and Kidder, both of whom were undefeated on the year.  Zini (first time in Arkansas wrestling history!) won all of his matches by pin!!!  Zini was also named the Heavyweight Outstanding Wrestler for the 1A – 5A division, a repeat title.  Also scoring valuable points with high finishes were:  Shane Almond, 2nd at 170#, Braden Quesinberry, 2nd at 160#, Jackson Kirby, 4th at 220#, Preston Barnett 4th at 132# and Cody Reynolds, 4th at 120#.  And, to top it off, Keith Almond was named the Arkansas Wrestling Association Coach of the Year for the 1A – 5A division.  Great job again to all and we are proud of you!!

Now, for a bit more basketball news.  Both teams will go into the East Region at the #2 seed with Thursday games at Trumann.  Yahoo Maps puts Trumann 138 miles and 2:21 from Mustang Mountain.  Plan accordingly.  The Lady Mustangs will play Cave City at 7:00 pm followed by the Mustangs and Pocahontas at 8:30 pm.  Admission is $5 for adults and students; only AAA passes are accepted.  A camera tag is required for any type of videography.  Still photos are permitted without a camera tag.  No signs, face paint or noisemakers and look for signs for designated seating  CAC will be the home team for both games on Thursday.  ONLY team and spirit group personnel are allowed on the floor at any time.

The swim team had some good action at the district meet in Conway on Saturday.  Rachel Weaver, Katie Games and Jayson Simmons have qualified and will represent CAC at Saturday’s state swim meet at UALR.  Swimming action begins about 10:00 clock.  Congrats to all and good luck on Saturday.

In other action, Thursday we will be set up to size and take orders for varsity letter jackets.  This will happen at noon in the cafeteria.  Any student who has lettered in a varsity sport or activity may order a jacket with a $50 deposit required for ordering.  Jacket prices vary from $130 – $170 and should be in about May 1.

The Junior Class will also have a Bake Sale on Thursday in the cafeteria.  Send some extra coins with your kids for some goodies.

This is enough for now.  You may holler if we can be of help but, as we will not be in school Tuesday, an email may be more efficient.  Best wishes all for warmth and safe travel  See you in a day or so.  We well and be clearing the driveway and sidewalks
