Mustang Monitor, January 25
Happy, active greetings,
We hope this finds you and yours well as we have a lot of great news to report on activities of the recent past!!
Shout Out to the CAC Choir and director, Janice Northen, all of whom did a great job in performing the National Anthem at Memphis’ Fed Ex Forum prior to Saturday’s Memphis Grizzlies game! They will reprise that presentation at Tuesday’s varsity games on Mustang Mountain. Come on out to honor them, watch some great CAC basketball action, enjoy the Mustang Pep Band and witness what I suspect will be some “honored guests” from sports TV Land on ESPN Night Game time is 6:00 pm. (Re: the Memphis gig; there are some videos of their singing out there somewhere in Inter-Web land. When found, we will report for your watching and listening enjoyment!)
Saturday, the CAC Swimming Team was in action in Cabot with Lady Mustangs Lauren and Rachel Weaver and Katie Games along with Mustang swimmers Jayson Simmons and Dylan Smith. They notched EIGHT top five finishes including 4 Seconds, 3 Fourths and a Fifth. Lauren, Rachel, Katie and Jayson all recorded Runner Up finishes in individual events. Outstanding work and congratulations to all of them.
Mustang Wrestling was in action in a REALLY big tournament at Greenbrier over the weekend. Leading CAC were grapplers, Braden Zini (192#) and Jason Kidder (285#); both of whom claimed yet another championship AND continued an undefeated season! Great job to them and the squad for a great outing with some very tough competition.
The wrestling squad will host the CAC Team Tournament Friday and Saturday. Pool matches will begin Friday evening about 5:00 with action continuing Saturday morning about 9:00 and the championship bracket starting about noon. It’s non-stop action, taking place in both gyms and a great time to see some outstanding student athletes in competition.
Speaking of competition; particularly with the devious villain, G.P.A.; Sunday afternoon honored some great scholars with honor societies induction ceremonies. A LARGE number of students were granted membership in National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and Beta Club as a result of arduous and unswerving work in efforts of the intellect. Congrats to them for their dedication and leadership!
There are still some opportunities for your support for the Drama Department’s production of “Beauty and the Beast” in the form of advertising in that show’s playbill or program. Please contact me for information. As rehearsals continue with great regularity to ensure another stellar performance, we thank you for your consideration. Show dates are March 14 – 16.
That’s all that comes to mind right now and aren’t you glad??? Thank you for your attention, help and support. It’s a great thing you do for CAC and our students. And do give us a holler if we may be of assistance.
Doug Killgore, CMAA
