Mustang Monitor – January 11
So, weather supported calling off church for the time being, (justified as I nearly “bought it” on back deck) so I’ll do something else Christian. Central Arkansas CHRISTIAN that is…, at least in this format.
I hope this finds you well, in the ’15 routine and just as warm and toasty as you want to be. Personally, I’m freezing! The old bones just don’t take the cold anymore. This will be a grand message as there have been so many great things going on at Mustang Mountain. Let’s get on with some well-deserved Shout-Outs!!
Swimming broke the ice this week (tee hee) with their first meet of the season. Some great results by Jayson Simmons, Lauren and Rachel Weaver, Katie Games and Dylan Smith. How great? Good enough to move the CAC into 5th place in the meet of more than 12 schools!!!! Outstanding job and Congrats to all. Rachel and Jayson already qualified for state in some events. Keep up the great work and stay warm! Jay Simmons does a great job of organizing and running their efforts. Thank you, Jay!!!
Wrestling action continued to heat up. The Mustang squad of Coach Almond swept a tri-match on Tuesday and narrowly lost to 7A Conway on Thursday. Braden Zini, Jon Andrews, Jason Kidder, Braden Quesinberry, Shane Almond and Preston Barnett continue their winning ways. Kidder, Zini and Andrews remain undefeated on the year. Congrats to all and wishes for continued success.
Varsity basketball moves onward and upward; as the Lady Mustangs and Mustangs enjoyed great conference wins last week. Action continues with a couple of road trips this week working toward post-season play in only five weeks! A Shout Out to some very creative and supportive student work for Friday’s game. Great job folks on all levels. Come on out and enjoy the show although the next home game is a ways down the road. We’ll keep you posted.
In less rigorous ventures, a Mustang CONGRATS to Lauren Weaver and Kameron Byrd for being selected to the All Region Band on Saturday! Byrd also qualified to audition for the All State Band in the coming weeks. Great job and best wishes for an outstanding performance in a couple of weeks.
And, another Shout Out and Thanks to Laura and George Jones for their guidance and hard work on Elementary Basketball. Nearly every Saturday, the Jones and their cadre of highly skilled high school kids produce many games for grades 3 – 6 at Mustang Mountain. From what I’ve seen and heard, most of CAC’s teams have winning records. Pats on the Back to Laura and George!!!
Some additional information:
Ø Mark Thursday, February 5 on your calendars for CAC’s Middle School Open House on Mustang Mountain. This should prove to be a great night as CAC moves into the future. More details will be forthcoming.
Ø The Drama Department is looking for an individual to play a Second Keyboard part for the production of Beauty and the Beast. Please contact me for information.
Ø And, with an expanded playbill, the production of Beauty and the Beast will offer some advertising opportunities. A Mustang Monitor dedicated to this venture will be sent out soon. Your support will be MOST appreciated.
That’s enough for this cold and icy morning. Y’all hang in there, out there. Give us a shout if you wish and we hope to see you at some upcoming events or just drop by for a visit. Be well, be warm and be a Mustang!
