Mustang Monitor: October 20
Some sadness to report and begin with. Renea Rushin, mother of Abby (10th) and Zach (7th) and Mike’s wife, passed away this morning. She’s had been fighting a valiant battle with cancer for several months. Please remember this sweet family in your prayers as they face the days, months and years ahead. May God bless them with comfort and courage in this trying time. No arrangements have been made to my knowledge. We will report the plans once we know.
The schedule lists many events occurring this week, most of which are not at CAC. Some details of specific events:
Ø State Tennis – Players who win Monday will advance to the semi-finals on Tuesday. Check Twitter @BowTieAD for results
Ø District Volleyball – By virtue of a 2nd place finish in conference, the Lady Mustangs are guaranteed a trip to state next week in Lonoke. With a District Tournament win Tuesday, the girls will play for the championship at 6:30 Wednesday. With a loss Tuesday, the team will play at 4:30 Wednesday for the 3rd place seed to state. All games are at Southside Batesville High School. CAC will play the survivor of Robinson, AR Baptist and Southside on Tuesday.
Ø Cookie Sale – Support the activities of Band and Choir members and take advantage of this great offer. $16 for a 40 count box of frozen, pre-cut cookie dough; just in time for the holidays! Cookies will arrive before Thanksgiving Break.
Ø It’s Varsity Letter Jacket time. The $135 package includes jacket, letter, sport insert, monogrammed name and sleeve number. A deposit of $50 is required for ordering. Jackets should arrive by Christmas.
Ø The Band will also host a Pre-Game Dinner Friday night in the Atrium. Serving will begin at 4:30. Make plans to arrive early, get a parking spot and a good meal before the game.
As volleyball draws to a close, a big Mustang THANK YOU to the Junior Cheerleader parents and their sponsors, Barb and Ali Caspary, for operating the gym concession stand the entire season. Great job girls (and a few dads); we appreciate you for your efforts and service. And to all of you who supported same with purchases.
Saturday was All Region Auditions for senior high choir. A Mustang CONGRATULATIONS to Maggie Noyes, Ellie Kate Chapman and Abby Rushin for qualifying for this honor. Abby finished high enough to also qualify for State Choir Auditions later in the year. Great job girls; we are proud of you.
That’s it for the time being. We will update you as options are determined. For up to the minute reports and results, Twitter would be your best option.
Till the next time, be well, be happy and be prayerful. And, give a shout if we may be of help.
